The Goo Goo Dolls oppose war.
They have spoken out during concerts and interviews, and
they have urged fans to try to do something. But how can one
person change anything?
If everyone believes they're powerless, it's a self-fulfilling
prophecy. There were a couple of boys from Buffalo who wanted
to rock the world with their music. They kept at it, and made
their vision happen. Now it's time for a new vision, and the
boys from Buffalo aren't alone. Millions of people are realizing
that things need to change, or there won't be anything left
to fight over....
This site is a resource for fans who want to learn about
the alternatives to war and corporate domination, and why
it's so important to pursue those alternatives. The sites
we've linked to provide several different perspectives, and
lots of ideas for how to make a difference, if you choose.
You can connect with other fans who are working for change,
and you can share your thoughts about the issues. We hope
that by rallying the fans, we'll encourage the Goo Goo Dolls
to keep speaking out. |

Unfortunately, I've decided to close the message board until
further notice.... Between fake spam accounts, lack of use,

Might open it again at some point in the future, if it makes
sense to do so....

The Big Pink Banner begins its journey! Here's the banner
in Patterson, California -- apparently, the apricot capitol
of the world! Who knew? Dionne is an awesome sport -- she
got the banner the day *after* the shows she went to, but
still sent in these rockin' pics of the banner with her famous
PT Goozer (and a peacegoo in the making!).... Thanks, Dionne!
The banner's just been in Seattle (thanks, Kendel!) and soon
it's off to the Midwest, Buffalo, Canada, Florida.... And
maybe your hometown? Check out the Message
Board for details....
Don't forget, you can also make your own banner and bring
it to shows, protests, school, work, wherever! We'd love to
see pictures of it! Just e-mail DreamTooLoud @ aol . com (no

FYI, this is an open letter from the mother of the first
commissioned officer to refuse duty in Iraq...
Dear Fellow Americans,
I am the mother of Lt. Ehren Watada, an officer stationed
at Ft. Lewis. He is part of a Stryker brigade unit that deployed
today to Iraq. Despite an unflinching commitment to his men
and to democratic ideals, he chose not to accompany his men.
His decision came through much soul-searching and through
research and consultation with experts across disciplines,
inside and outside of the military and the government.
After weighing the evidence, he came to the conclusion that
he could no longer be silent while atrocities were committed
in the name of democracy. He could no longer be a tool of
an administration that used deception and lies to make the
case for pre-emptive war.
As a member of the armed forces, sworn to uphold the US Constitution,
he refuses to blindly participate in a war of aggression,
an illegal war that undermines who we are as a nation and
violates international law. Implicit in his oath as an officer
is the duty to disobey all unlawful orders for; to carry out
these orders renders him an accomplice to a criminal act.
Furthermore, to order his men to participate in a war of aggression
multiplies his guilt a thousand fold. His conscience will
not permit him to do so. He believes that he can best serve
them by taking a stand against the war. In so doing, he demonstrates
that one does not relinquish the freedom to choose what is
right, even in the military, and that the freedom to choose
what is right transcends the allegiance to man and institutions.
As a mother, I have evolved from fearing for his safety and
for his future to the realization that there is a higher purpose
to all that has transpired. My son no longer stands at the
crossroads. He has chosen "the road less travelled." Come
what may, he is committed to staying the course.
I invite you to affirm your support of Lt. Ehren Watada on
June 27th, National Day of Action. On this day, groups across
the country will participate in peaceful demonstrations, prayer
services, candle light vigils, parades, leafleting, visitations
to recruitment stations to provide counsel to prospective
recruits.
For updates on news and actions regarding Lt. Watada, please
check out: www.thankyoult.org
or www.couragetoresist.org.
My deepest thanks,
Carolyn Ho

The Goos have just finished their UK mini-tour,
and plenty of Fans For Peace were there -- Big Pink Banner
and all! We've now got a history
of the banner, and new photos
from its world travels....
Awhile
back, Amory sent in some photos from New Year's Eve, with
the banner's fresh new autographs from Robby and Mike....
There are also a LOT of new names around the edges -- as
the banner makes its way around to different shows, folks
have been adding their names to it! Pretty cool....

With all these new adventures, I've stitched
a panel to the inside to keep track of where it's been:

Soon it will be headed back to the states
for the summer GGD tour -- If you'd like to bring it to
a show, head on over to the Message
Board to find out how! (the board was hacked a few months
ago, so you might have to re-register)
It's also a great time to get creative and
make your own banner -- the Goos are diggin' Fans For Peace
as much as ever! For some inspiration, check out this
page, and don't forget to take pictures!
Moving backwards in time, here are some photos
that Nellze sent in, of an immigrants' rights rally in Minnesota
-- very cool that she's getting involved, and even bringing
her kids along!
If you've been to a protest or rally lately,
send in some pics (DreamTooLoud @ aol . com - no spaces) or
post them on the Message
Board! We'd love to see them! Things are getting crazier
and crazier in the world, and we need all the inspiration
we can get.... Speaking of which, have you seen Robby's
Blog lately? It's full of awesome political commentary,
and you can add your own comments! If you haven't seen it,
it's definitely worth a look.
Meanwhile, keep up the GOOd work, and I'll try
to update a bit more often now that the Let Love In
tour is underway....

CASEY KASEM MENTIONS FANS FOR PEACE!!
The Goos' Give A Little Bit was Number
One this week on Casey's Top 20, and as Kat
reports....
He talked about how the Goo's would say little
things like "You can help stop war", and how the
fans decided to turn that into something. He gave the URL
and talked about how the site had different links to help
stop war. It was pretty cool to hear about it on the radio!
Thanks, Casey, for mentioning us! Thanks, Kat,
for posting about it! And especially thanks to anybody who
heard about us on the radio and decided to visit!! Welcome!!
If you'd like to chat with other fans for peace, head on over
to the message

The Big Pink Banner's been spotted in previews
of the new Live In Buffalo DVD, along with plenty of peace
signs from the Goos!! Pretty cool :-)
To celebrate the new googoodolls.com website
design, we've got some new buttons, just in case they might
think about adding fansforpeace.org to the links section.
Ya never know!!
To put one of these buttons on YOUR website,
right-click (mac users: ctrl-click) and select "save
as." Then upload to your website with a link to fansforpeace.org

There's a new interview with Robby from the
Glam-Metal website..... Here's an excerpt.....
Dude, everyday for a week I was in a room
with anywhere from 5000 - 15,000 people of all ages screaming
and hugging because they were so happy that we might defeat
this horribleness. After the election was lost, I was thinking,
hey, all those people are still out there. These are people
who love this country with all of their heart and want to
see change.

Just
a quick photo for you.... John, Mike, Robby, and Greg with
Michael
Moore in Columbus, OH on the recent Slacker Uprising Tour....
And another HUGE thank-you to the Goos for speaking
out and supporting Kerry. Even though the election was stolen
(again), they helped educate and motivate thousands of people!!
Also a huge thank-you to all the FANS who were out there volunteering
and getting out the vote all across the country!! Working
on this election was just one step in the long journey towards
taking back our country and our world. It's great to be in
such fabulous company!!
Remember to check out the message

ELECTION UPDATE!
First off, Happy Halloween!! Tonight's actually
the two-year anniversary of when Robby gave me the idea of
starting FFP!! It's come a long way!!
Check out googoodolls.com
to see all the great gigs the Goos are doing with Michael
Moore, in support of Kerry, and in support of the get-out-the-vote
campaigns..... Plus updates throughout the election!! It's
really amazing!! Thank you soooo much guys for being out there
and not being afraid to raise your voices during this insane
time.
From over here in Scotland things are looking
pretty crazy, I can only imagine what it's like "on the
ground" -- a huge thank-you to all the fans who are out
there working hard for change. Most of Europe (and the rest
of the world) is standing behind you!!

Lots of news to report..... A few weeks ago,
the Goos played at the Democratic National Convention. And
in a few weeks, they're playing for the Republicans. What?!
According to the Boston Globe:
The band "has accepted big money to play
at the other party's party in New York. But frontman John
Rzeznik swears the band will contribute the dough to the
Dems. "We're like Castro's secret army," he said.
Different Fans for Peace have various opinions
about this move, but we all support the Goos in doing what
they think is best. If anybody's interested in trying to get
into that concert with the Big Pink Banner, please let me
know.
In other news, we just received a thank-you
note from one of the soldiers in Baghdad:
Dear Fans For Peace,
I just wanted to write you to say
thanks for the care package and CDs. These care packages
mean a lot to the soldiers of 1/32 IN BN and I. I know that
you go out of your way to send us these care packages and
I thank you. The soldiers of 1/32 IN BN and I lost most
of our stuff in a fire recently. With the help of the United
States Army and people like you we got back on our feet
in no time.
I will tell you a little about myself
and Iraq. My name is Marcus and I'm 22 years old. I'm a
medic in the United States Army and I have been in for almost
4 years. I have been in Iraq for 10 months and it feels
like it has been forever. I plan to get out and go to college
as soon as I can.
It is so hot in Iraq: sometimes I
think my skin is going to melt off. Thank God for A/C because
I don't think we could make it without it. Most of the people
here are happy we are here to help. Did I tell you how hot
it is over here?
Thank you so much for the support!
SPC Marcus McCullough
Very cool to know they've received our packages,
hopefully we'll be hearing from the others soon. Another batch
of care packages will be going out later this month or in
September, so if you want to include letters or pictures,
please e-mail them to DreamTooLoud @ aol . com. Thanks! To
find other soldiers to help out, check out booksforsoldiers.com.

Fans Serving in Baghdad
Through the website booksforsoldiers.com,
we've found five guys serving in Iraq who are Goo fans, and
have sent out care packages to four of them (the fifth is
going out soon, just heard from him today). Even though we
don't agree with their boss, Fans For Peace support the men
and women serving our country, and hope they get to come home
soon!!
If you'd like to send letters to any of these
soldiers, there's more info about each of them on the message
board, and the next set of packages will be going out
in early August. Also, be sure to check out booksforsoldiers.com
to find some folks in uniform to send some smiles to.

Uncle Sam's Jam was absolutely amazing.....
What other band would play in a torrential downpour? What
other fans would stand in ankle-deep water to watch? An experience
like no other, for sure.....
The show was opened by an incredible one-man
folk-punk act called Hamell
on Trial, intensely political and tell-it-like-it-is (what
part of Thou Shalt Not Kill don't you understand?). Followed
by a somewhat more timid Ani
DiFranco (who had some political lyrics as well), and
last but definitely not least, the Goos. They didn't "get
political" as one of our signs asked, but flashed lots
of peace signs as they raced through a set to (unsuccessfully)
beat the rain. More photos coming soon, as well as text from
an interview with John where he talked about corporate domination
and right-wing brainwashing.....
A
big thank-you to everyone who helped hold the Big Pink Banner
during the show and throughout the weekend. It's sure to get
on the DVD, if the cameras weren't too waterlogged to film
it!! The above photo was taken after watching Fahrenheit 9/11
on Saturday, and is Zuzana, me, Diane, Jen, and Amory, taken
by Amory's rockin' husband Mike. Below are me and Amory at
Niagara Falls, photo by Mike.

P.S. One more thing -- we've found three soldiers serving
in Baghdad who are Goo fans, so we're either going to be sending
them big care packages from FFP, or giving out their mailing
addresses to anybody who wants to send them cards and things
directly. If you're interested in getting involved with that,
please check out the message
board or booksforsoldiers.org. |

The
Music Is Art festival two weeks ago in Buffalo was awesome!!
In addition to dozens of bands, dance troupes, artists, performers,
and other great entertainment, there were a number of organizations
doing outreach and education -- including Rock
The Vote and Planned
Parenthood. During Robby's finale performance, he talked
about the crazy stuff going on in the world, then sang some
oldskool political songs..... Go Robby! And in the art displays,
he had hundreds of tiny paintings of soldiers, with a picture
of George W. Bush smiling in the bottom corner...... Powerful
message.
Next weekend's 4th of July show has Ani DiFranco
opening, so there's sure to be some great political speaking
out then!! What better time to talk politics than Independence
Day??
Have you seen Fahrenheit
9/11 yet? Excellent movie, and there's some great discussion
about it happening on the message
board. A bunch of Fans For Peace will seeing the movie
next weekend in Buffalo as well, so if you're around for the
show, come join us! Details will be posted on the message
board.
Things are changing pretty fast it seems......
Let's try to keep on top of it, and keep speaking out.

Welcome to the new site! LOTS of changes for
the site and for the webmaster.... I'm going to be starting
my master's at the Centre
for Human Ecology in Edinburgh, Scotland this fall, so
I won't have as much time to maintain FFP. So I've streamlined
the site and all interactive stuff is now going to be on the
message board.
I've reorganized all the content (again) so it's hopefully
even easier to navigate, and added a few new things here and
there. Other than that, hope to see you on the message
board! Enjoy the new site!
Love & Light
Myshele :-)
P.S. FFP has been named SITE OF THE
MONTH by the Beligian
Goo Fansite!! Thanks, Kelly!

The past few months, FFP has been living on the message board
-- last week, the board was disabled by hackers, and I haven't
been able to reinstall it. All the messages and stuff are
backed up as text files on my hard drive, so at least they
weren't lost. But this isn't our first trouble with the board,
so I've switched to what is supposed to be a more hacker-proof
one. Check it out! Here's the url: www.fansforpeace.org/forum.
I'm also going to be doing a massive restructuring of the
site and possibly a redesign over the next few weeks -- if
you have any suggestions, please e-mail me: DreamTooLoud @
aol . com.
Have a good memorial day.
